Alternate Friday 'Exuberance'

James Mathias has once again challenged us oddballs to throw off the shackles of mundanity and revel in the sweet nectar of silliness. So here is my retort to his offering...'Exuberance'
What could be more Exuberant than a giggling Myna Byrd ?
Very few things indeed...

Illustration Friday 'Heroes'

This time I wanted color again for Illustration Friday. The subject this week is 'Heroes', so I decided to have some fun, no black and white, no somber approach, like last week. Once again layers were vitally important and I used the old lens flare filter ( its faint, look close and you might see it ). The eraser tool was used extensively to give it a lil' boost between layers, I went the extra mile and added some highlights to the costume.
I'm gonna keep this short, honest !

Here ya go, kinda explains itself, you can feel safe now.

A COOL DUDE

My poor blog buddy James Mathias has been feeling left out of the loop. He has an awesome blog filled with hilarious stories and delightful artwork. Sometimes the two are combined for a double whammy ! And he's also the SHAVIOR, ya gotta see it to understand it, it's all for a good cause. This guy is the first person to add me to their blogroll, and that made me feel all choked up. He's a great guy and a red head.
I don't know how that works together, but he manages it pretty well.

Anyway, he's seen how many visitors have come forward from lurker-land on my blog, and he's feelin' a lil' lonely. I think he's got a truck load o' talent.
So if you got a moment to spare, got click above on his link and give him some luv. Make him popular, make him blush.

Tell him I sent you, that way he knows who to be mad at...

De Men Tia

This is a special Illustration'JAMES'Friday. His word is 'Dementia'. Which I mischeiviously butchered, an act that I think James will appreciate. If you want to participate (and I know you do, I can hear you breathing) just click on the James Mathias link above and show off your stuff !

Due to overwhelming teasing and flirting, I have added Jennifer to my Summoning links. Go ahead and click on her link, she's got some groovy eye candy there ! Tell her a Tree Sprite sent you.

Illustration Friday 'Black and White'

Today is Friday the 17th. Mark this day. It's the day that Illustration Friday came up with an intriguing subject ,'Black and White'. This piqued my imagination. I thought...y'know, what would it be like if a Wraith decided to explore the alien worlds of the universe ? And what would it look like ? Hmmmmmmm.

Well, there probably wouldn't be a lotta color. It would be kinda stark and faded, like an old B & W photo. The bright sunlit skies of Earth would receed into the distance as you journeyed outward toward the stars...possibly to meet other Wraiths from Extraterrestrial worlds. The near absolute zero cold of outer space wouldn't affect you. The near vacuum of deep space might feel a little odd. Radiation might feel like a light tickle. And the speed that you would travel could potentially exceed that of the limits of light.

What would you find ? Ruined worlds littered with crumbing buildings devastated by nuclear war ? Thriving civilizations that span entire super-clusters of stars by using Far-Caster teleportation gateways ? Primitive settlements ?

Maybe you'd find creatures that look radically different from yourself, or perhaps they will look remarkably like yourself...

Kinda puts all the obnoxious and backward attitudes about race, gender, sexuality, religion, and age in perspective, huh ? It's all 'Black and White' after a while...

Jennifer: TREESPRITE

Guessssssssss what ? Another lovely lady has just requested a random sketch from me to be posted in her name. This is for you Jennifer, a rare peek at a very shy woodland being. She agreed to pose for me a while back when I cleared up a Fairy Ring that had been covered up by fallen branches for her. Today I called in that favor by telling a local Zoog to leave a message at her Elm tree.
She watched me scan it in and clean it up in Photoshop. Her breath rilly tickled my ear as she stood on my shoulder. My imac totally fascinates her. She said she'll think about buying an Apple computer one day.
If she can find an apple tree to plug it into...

Nelvana's Glory

ROCK & RULE

Here it is. The movie I preordered. It finally arrived. Isn't it glorious !
If you haven't seen this movie, then go out and rent/buy it when it comes out to the rest of the buying public later this summer. The only full length, feature animated film ever made in Canada. A marvel of it's time. A wonder of this time. It survived. Now I've got my copy.

Herez a butt shot for you. Oooooo ! Aaaaaah ! Rare and wonderous ! You may not understand this nonsense from me, but I grew up with this movie. It's part of my life. Some people have Star Wars. Others have Indianna Jones. I have the disease of ROCK & RULE. My friend Kev has the same disease. We can recite most of the movie from memory. Even after all these years.
That's sad. But true. Funny as hell, too.

Save your nickles and dimes and you can own a copy as well.
I have spoken.

PrettyKitty

This image is something of a departure from my usual stuff. I didn't do any drawing on paper, this was done entirely in Photoshop. I created a series of layers and just kept adding paint to each one to build up a multi-level composite painting.
It's nice to not see pencil lines peeking through.

That should make Janey happy. She likes to see me post unusual art. When I don't, she stops by and makes a request for more new drawings.

I try my best. This image didn't turn out too bad...

Explain the Links

COOP
I discovered Coop from Dangermarc (I'll get to him in another post, funny story). Coop has some pretty sharp and clean art work. I've never contacted him since he has a website rather than a blog, but that's ok, I kinda like his work, so I added him. (Plus back then I didn't have a lotta buddy links to add, so any cool sites I could find went here.)
In fact, the only real buddy link blogs I gained after Kev and James actually starts at Janey and works it's way down. The criteria for being added to my blogroll sorta revolves around constant visits/comments and teasing me. That and/or steady email.

Plus it helps to respond to me on your own blog if I come and visit & comment. Feedback on comments is soooooo important ! That's why I always try my best to keep up with replying to all my visitors comments. If you ignore someone, they may get pissed at you (see previous post, Belated Link). Then you have to apologize (and possibly beg them to come back if you like them). Good manners and Nettiquette are essential to a thriving blog. Add some humor. Push some envelopes. Entertain your audience. Interact with the lurkers (you know who you are). And most of all...
Have Fun !

I haven't had any 'Trolls' yet. Trolls are people who come to your site and verbally attack you. They tend to use racial/gender/other slurs and are very hostile. They leave fake emails/urls. And they annoy almost everybody. Just go to MizzKyttie and check out her trouble with Trolls.
Ok, that's enough.
Me shut up now.

Mission: DAZE

Some of you may have noticed that the Sinister Spinster (aka Miss Daze) link in my Summoning blogroll isn't working right now. It currently is a dead link until I get word from Teresa about if/when she gets her new website/blog transferred. So far she's getting frustrated with the whole process and is mad enough to spit nails. So, if you could, go to her remaining site and cheer her up a lil' bit.

She's had a rough couple of weeks, so give her some luv, people.

Belated Link

This is my fault. I thought that I added Artworkanonymous a long time ago to my Summoning links. I'm sooooo sorry Anonymous! I've just added you to the list. This is a belated welcoming. Please forgive me! You have been an integral part of this blog. You have been showing up and commenting for months and you deserve better than to be overlooked like this. I feel so bad about this...

Poof !

Illustration Friday 'Summer'

Hello again ! As you can see, I decided to go with the crutch of humor once again. And I think this piece also will strike a chord with many people out there who suffer from 'Summer' allergies. Just think back-

Remember when your nose just wouldn't stop draining and the constant nasal mucous discharge made all food taste funny, made you sniff and snort every 30 seconds, and made you sound like you had a clothes-pin clamping your nose ?
And what was your solution ?
Yeah, you twisted up a kleenex and inserted it into the offending nostril to block both incoming pollen and dust, as well as halting any liquid rivers.

Make funny faces if you must, but the 'yuck' factor is justified today. Many of you suffer this malady, and I'm just airing out the dirty laundry. I've had outpatient surgery for a deviated septum (sinus allergy) many years back, so this is a distant memory.
You know who you are...

The Devil's Dictionary

CERBERUS, n. The watch-dog of Hades, whose duty it was to guard the entrance-against whom or what does not clearly appear; everybody, sooner or later, had to go there, and nobody wanted to carry off the entrance. Cerberus is known to have had three heads, and some of the poets have credited him with as many as a hundred. Professor Graybill, whose clerky erudition and profound knowledge of Greek give his opinion great weight, has averaged all the estimates, and makes the number twenty-seven--a judgment that would be entirely conclusive if Professor Graybill had known (a) something about dogs, and (b) something about arithmetic.

Illustration Friday 'Digital'

IN THE FUTURE, FLIGHT WILL BE FAR MORE INTERESTING.

Or so I think. What could be more fitting than a 'Digital' bird for this Illustration Friday subject ? It is solar powered. It never poops on your recently waxed car. And it is not in danger from the neighborhood pedatory kitty katz. Of course the goldfish are still fair game.
(As you may have noticed, people in the future are more relaxed about nudity. I can't explain the hair, maybe telepathy makes it fall out...)
