Planet Fall

This week the theme from Illustration Friday is "Safe".

As with every Space Shuttle mission, I sure hope they get there and back again 'safe' and sound. We begin construction on the Space Station Alpha in just a few more days. I'm looking forward to some hope for the human race, we sure could use some...

Well done and well thought. I feel the same way each time I take the car out... will I get back safe? The soft tones and the motion created are perfect for this piece steve.

Thanks for the sentiment... especially with the contracting whistle blowing about Lockheed. (And I know some engineering types...) Great evocation of space, heat and atmosphere.

I just don't understand why NASA doesn't build a huge vaccum cleaner to suck up the atmosphere so there isn't any burn-up on re-entry!

Wow! I love this.

The stars to the right are great & the colours in the planet are fabulous. I love green!

Colorful stars may not be scientific, but they sure can be pretty, Wiwimu. I want a safe mission too !

Really like this, gives a strong feeling of space and adventure-colors and design are sharp.

Steve,
I used an oil paint brush and pallette knife. The Pallette knife particularly with the waves in the foreground-used the topography effect then to give an overall look of even thicker paint and a rough canvas.

Howdy HardWax ! Pallette knife, that's what I couldn't think of ! Thanx dude !

Great rendering of the energy and heat and speed (don't ask me for any scientific re-entry jargon)... reminds me of the re-entry scene from 'Apollo 13', which was portrayed as well as any movie could done.

And 'amen' to getting crew members out and back safely.
