Roots

This guy has taken Illustration Friday just a lil' bit too seriously!

Hurry Hurry Hurry !!!
Gather round and see for yourself the bizarre and stupendous 8th wonder of the world ! Come one come all ! Right here in Kalamazoo is revealed the walking fungus amongus, the toadstool teetotaler, the cellar seller...

MUSHROOMAN !!!

If you have a backyard filled with Fairy Rings, or you simply have a Yeast Infection, then Mushrooman has probably slipped in and taken 'root'. Don't worry, he wont stay for long and after the Elves have finished dancing ( or the itching is treated with some antibiotic ) he'll take his magic to the next lucky (?) location and start over again...

:-D

Wicked!
Is Mushrooman responsible for that mound of dirt in my yard? It just appeared there this week. About the size of a pizza and slightly raised, it sticks up about 2 inches from the center of the carefully mowed grass. At first I thought it was the Gnomes come back ...but they perfer the tree roots and this is no where near a tree.
Does Mushrooman dig his toes into the earth and generate little villages?

Hee hee! Awesome.

i guess he is also soft that he can easily fall *LOL*

It has made me smile and laugh steve! is it really censored down there?-i was thinking it also looks like a mushroom ha ha ha

You might have the beginings of a puff ball, Ginger. Or a rilly gigantic mole !
MushrooMan helps the Smurfs grow new houses every now and then (some Smurfs can't wait and they move right into his body...)!

:-D

At 12:24 PM, Blogger steve said...

Thanx Joanne ! MushrooMan luvs the attention!
:-)

At 12:25 PM, Blogger steve said...

Howdy Joe ! My main attraction is MushrooMan, the living wonder ( or just some elf who is desperately in need of a bath...) !

:-D

At 12:27 PM, Blogger steve said...

MushrooMan is quite *squishy* Isay. Don't hug him too tightly !

Not only might it be a mushroom down there, it might be a *micro* mushroom!
Sorry guys!

:-D

LOL...very good build-up to your new Less-Than-Super Hero! Also, one of your best drawings yet.

This is a bit of a hoot, Steve. I'd hate to see him during a spore release.

Has someone (something) taken up residence in his (it's?) lower calf area there? And what kind of mushroom is he/it exactly? He/it is probably safe with me because I'm happy with canned mushrooms which hopefully are not relatives of him/it.

At 8:26 PM, Blogger elegraph said...

gosh, i think there's an over-the-counter cream for what he's got!!

seriously, though - nice work. and thanks for posting a message about helping out in the hurricane crisis.

At 8:42 PM, Blogger Tony LaRocca said...

How come his calf is smoking? Shouldn't that be a little higher up?

At 9:50 AM, Blogger Leontine said...

This is fantastic, and it is exactly how I felt when I had ringworm on my leg last month. I was itchier and crankier though; he seems kind of at peace with his situation.

At 10:16 AM, Blogger carla said...

You totally crack me up! I mean...Mushroomman? He looks like a walking disease! I love how you created that warty skin with all its fungal protruberences. The ledge fungus is an especially nice touch. And even more brilliant...you psyched us out on the obvious with your censored sign. I'm convinced you'll get the prize ( I know, it's just for fun...) for the most unique interpretation this week. As always, it's a real pleasure to see what you've cooked up!

At 1:41 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hahahaha! He's got a house in his calf! He's pretty friendly looking for a mushroom man.

Hey you're a Scorpio like me Steve. Uh oh!

:0)

At 2:44 PM, Blogger Rowantree said...

Mushrooman, it's great !!

At 9:41 AM, Blogger steve said...

Ah, but he's a Hero nontheless, Mick!
After all, he's good as a soup, a pizza topping, and well...making bread rise...

:-D

At 9:42 AM, Blogger steve said...

He'd sorta look like Pigpen from that Charlie Brown comic strip, Detlef. Just a cloud with feet...
:-)

At 9:54 AM, Blogger steve said...

Probably some Smurfs or other Wee folk have jumped the gun and appropriated one of his Rooms, Janey.
He's a combination of various Myconids, large and small, and most mushrooms are not sentient so eat away Janey!

:-)

At 9:56 AM, Blogger steve said...

No creams for him, KG, this is his livelihood ! Well, that and dank, dark, cellars...

I kinda thought the whole Hurricane Crisis needed a lil' help here, especially with all the phishers out there trying to scam good people.

At 9:59 AM, Blogger steve said...

It gets chilly living in a mushroom, Tony.
Higher up ? Hmmmm. Smoke coming from his ears would possibly connotate his intense thinking or his smouldering temper...

:-D

At 10:02 AM, Blogger steve said...

Oooooo ! Ringworm ! Sounds nasty, Leontine. MushrooMan is actually a living walking mushroom. You sound like a living walking human, I sure hope Ringworms don't start growing legs and walking around...!

:-D

At 10:07 AM, Blogger steve said...

Glad to give you a grin, Carla ! :-)
Doing all this tiny detail was fun, and I had a good model in MushrooMan. He held very still and was very quiet, usually the fairy folk are very talkative and energetic. But not this guy !

The censored sign was put there to hide his...er...toadstool. I don't wanna display the wrong 'head' on Illustration Friday. Heck, some of these artists are underaged !
Thanx for your kind words and warm wishes, Carla!
(P.S. don't mention the word 'cook' around MushrooMan, it makes him sorta nervous...)

:-D

At 10:13 AM, Blogger steve said...

Hiya Paige ! Some Wee fairy folk got impatient and decided to move right in before the 'Room' was ready to be planted overnight ! :-D

MushrooMan is very laid back and relaxed. He's related to Rastachauns (cousins to Leprechauns) who instead of hoarding gold and repairing shoes will sit on mushrooms, then EAT the mushrooms...

Ooooo. I need a spanking for that last pun ! It's the Scorpio in me (a sting in the tail). Ooooo. I did it again!

:-D

At 10:14 AM, Blogger steve said...

Thanx for the compliment, Rowantree ! MushrooMan is very happy !

At 12:25 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

mushrooman is happily rampaging through my home, is the bane of my existence! one of my neighbour's weekly chores is to clean his progeny from the walls of the stairwell...too bad they're not of the edible or magic variety, we could make a couple bucks to pay for cleaning up his mess! naughty boy he is. this is hilarious steve, i think my favorite character yet! you could use him for a cartoon on all this shoddy building epidemic:D
so you're a scorpio as well eh?! our birthdays will be creeping up shortly, much excuse for mischief and misbehaving...hee hee!
cheers,
kerry

At 7:29 PM, Blogger Anonymous said...

Hheheeee ... add me to your Scorpio list };-}

At 8:26 AM, Blogger steve said...

The mushrooms are there because they rilly like ya, Kerry! They're just saying 'hello' ! (in a squishy sorta way)...
Contractors just don't make buildings like they used to, those days of durable and virtually indestructable stuctures seems to be a passing fad. Now it's Money Money Money, usually by cutting corners any way they can. Grrrrrrrrr !

Welcome sister Scorpio ! The celebration of our beginings starts near the end of the year (we always seem t' be involved with the 'tail' end of things).

:-D

At 8:29 AM, Blogger steve said...

Your name is now enshrined in the 'Famous Scorpio's' of Illustration Friday, Anonymous!

Funny, I thought you didn't like birthday spankings...
:-D

At 3:57 PM, Blogger Anonymous said...

Being a Halloween Scorpio ... don't have to enjoy nor endure birthday spankings ... just frighten people };-}

At 8:47 PM, Blogger Unknown said...

Haha GREAT!:)

At 9:57 AM, Blogger steve said...

So, Anonymous, the saying should go...

Trick or Treat
